Two Point Museum Artwork

Two Point Museum, is described as “world’s first-ever museum management sim where you’ll design and refine your very own museums“.

My personal opinion, Two Point Museum feels the best in the series. From the gameplay and new encounters in the game. To the refined creative system, making it easy to build and manage rooms. Two Point Studios hit the mark learning from Two Point Hospital and Campus. It makes it the best entry with this third iteration.

Museum Locations:

In Two Point Museum, there are 5 unique locations. The starting point is Memento Mile. Players first experience is the exhibits and artefacts from Prehistory. Examples of prehistory exhibits and artefacts are from old fossils and ancient inventions to frozen finds and dinosaur bones from prehistoric beasts. Finding new exhibits and artefacts for your museum players will send trained or untrained … staff to Expeditions.

Next location players encounters is Passwater Cove where players will discover Marine Life. You will venture deep into the sea to discover aquatic life. Find different fish species and various marine life to add to your museum aquariums.

Wailon Lodge the next unique map in Two Point County players will discover Supernatural. Within this map players will experience the reminisce of a former hotel . Players will encounter House spirits that you build Polterguest Rooms to display ghosts. With extra exploration to neighbouring Netherworld to find more spooky exhibits.

Bungle Wasteland is the next map, its feature is Science. Bungle Technologies features a abandoned lab where players will collect materials and discover blueprints to build custom contraptions.

The final unique map in Two Point Museum is Pebberley Heights where Space is explored. Players will investigate Astral Anomalies and long-lost space junk. Meet new aliens species and venture to far out areas of the cosmos.

Expeditions:

Adding new exhibits and artefacts to your museum involves sending a small team on Expeditions. During these expeditions, they’ll discover and explore mysteries and find new items. Exhibits from every theme are scattered across multiple map locations in the following locations:

During these expeditions, the staff traveling on them discover different and unique events. These depend on map locations. Events can range from an injury to gaining XP or additional expedition days and more. During the expedition setup, you will choose the staff you take. Select from a range of cargo to help with your expedition. An example of cargo can be a first aid kit to eliminate the injury event. Ability to choose Speedy, Safe, or Detailed to increase expedition time and survey level. For example a speedy expedition risks Helicopter Damage.

It is wise for players to explore new points of interest with a range of staff from a variety of specialisations. This helps maximise exploration and discovering of all items within the exhibitions and minimise danger risks.

Injuries and illnesses are two types of Expedition Ailments. They are treated in different ways. Some illnesses pass with time. Others require medical attention. In some cases, an expedition to Remedial Springs is necessary. Injuries can be treated via a Bandage Box that can be placed in your museum in Staff Rooms.

A Point of Interest’s survey level will determine the maximum quality of exhibit that can be found there, gaining the higher-rarity items. Staff qualifications, expedition cargo, and detail level can improve this rating.

Exhibits & Artefacts:

With each exhibit there are 3 main factors Buzz, Decoration and Knowledge. In Two Point Museum there are 200+ unique exhibits to uncover, which are tracked via a sticker book.

Guests receive buzz when viewing each exhibit. Higher guests buzz will make bigger donations. When a guest is finished exploring your museum they’ll leave a guest review. Guest Reviews are determined by a guest’s total buzz, knowledge and happiness.

As players discover new exhibits and artefacts, they may find that some are incomplete. Completing them requires multiple expedition trips to gather all parts for an exhibit. An exhibit will have a quality rating and has the potential to have Traits or Perks. Perks can be added to an exhibit to gain additional boosts. A few perk examples can be from a boost in Buzz, Entertainment, Energy or Knowledge.

Each unique map location will have different gameplay systems based on the exhibits. In marine life, fish and aquariums play a big role. Each aquatic life collection requires its own needs has its own set traits and set of decorations needed. For example, Fish with Pescatarian Trait will eat smaller fish.

In Supernatural players will be building Polterguest Rooms where each Polterguest have their own taste and preferences. Players will need to keep the ghosts happy with fulfilling their needs to to avoid free spirits. A haunted museum … anyone. Immersed spirits lose their peace slower than normal.

Science exhibits come from creating custom contraptions. Find blueprints to make new machines. Gather materials found in bungle bunker and create new machines in a Workshop, assisted by a Science Expert. The Science theme contains unique perks that can be installed on custom contraptions to benefit the museum and its guests.

Space exhibits allows the use of space scrap. Piles of space scrap appear around the museum. Sending Space Experts they can examine the scrap which can yield money, perks or Astral Anomalies.

This theme was a personal favourite discovering the mysterious space exhibits with each containing glyphs. Most Astral Anomalies found are inactive with greyed out glyphs. Requiring players to discover and explore each symbol / parts for the exhibits to active and learn more about them.

This theme also allowed to explore far out of cosmos and discover new alien species such as the cheese-loving aliens.

As players gather multiple exhibits and artefacts, they need to deconstruct their exhibits. This process helps to discover and learn more about them. Using the Analysis Room, you can analyse your exhibits. This deepens the understanding of an exhibit. It also helps increase the exhibit knowledge.

The more knowledge of a theme players can unlock special decorations through Enlightenment. Each of the 6 main exhibit types have their own enlightenment to unlock for each theme with the following numbers:

Security:

In Two Point Museum, security are key as Thieves enter your museum potentially disguised and attempt to steal your exhibits. Hiring Security will help deter criminal activity. Players can use Security Chairs to provide security presence within an area. Alongside the use of Security Cameras to combat crime. Cameras only work when they are in close range to a Camera Room. They are only online when a Security Guard is working in the Camera Room.

As your museum increases in capacity and Prestige and gains reputation. The county’s criminal underworld Thieves & Vandals will target it. This underworld is made up of different Guilds with their own signature styles. They will try to gain access through multiple forms into your museum to steal your exhibits. Burrowing underground or they can emerge from unexpected places such as popping up from lavatories.

Heists are a thing in Two Point Museum, targeted heists with heightened levels of criminal activity. These can be deterred through the use of perks, installing anti-theft Perks on exhibits. Creating security archways near your most valuable relics.

Not only thieves do players need to keep an eye out but children. Children are known for touching and smudging up displays requiring security presence around your museum collections.

Guests & Entertainment:

Guests in your museum will have different interests. However, all guests share the same common interest in plenty of refreshments, ample of toilets. They also appreciate gift shops and a tidy museum. Dazzling exhibits and a good reputation will keep your guests’ interests high. This engagement leads to longer visits. It also results in increased donations and good reviews.

Children also experience buzz. Their knowledge however comes from interactive displays which provide buzz, knowledge and entertainment. These tools help children learn in a family-friendly way … potentially.

Dream Visits are a factor in Two Point Museum, as guests have hopes and dreams specific to their museum visit. Clicking on a guest will provide you with the information of guests needs and wants to provide a dream visit. These range from finding a way to transform a goth into a vampire. To more of a simpler request for a specific food item in the cafeteria.

In Two Point Museum, there are 18 guest types to meet and cater for. These range from clowns and space gibbons to science enthusiasts and goths. Using the Sticker Book, you can find all the information on every guest type. It outlines guest preferences and what they prefer at the gift shop.

Museum Tours are a great opportunity to showcase your exhibits, designing a guided, guest experience. Setting tours by placing a Tour Stand and select any exhibit in the museum to add to the tour. Route and length of the tour will change based on the exhibits you select. A tour’s rating is based on the buzz, decoration rating, and quality of exhibits. The length and thematic cohesion are also factored in. The Expert acting as the Tour Guide plays a role in the overall rating too.

Verdict:

My final thoughts on Two Point Museum it is the best one in the series!

Offering refined systems in gameplay and creativity and freedom from the ease of building rooms and customising them so easily. You can use the eye drop tool to pick easily objects or floor/wall patterns. Additionally, you can choose different styles for some of the decorations. You can change the colour of most objects. The ability to add partition walls and doors including staff only doors and one way doors. To create guest flow around your museum. And allow you the ability to directly dictate the flow of foot-traffic through your museum. Management tools are easy to use. They allow the creation of zoning. Enabling patrol areas for example security guards to maintain surveillance around your exhibit collections.

I like the satisfying progression system in Two Point Museum. You start by exploring different map locations. Experience the thrill of locating and gathering your exhibits to place in your museum. Sending out a varied of qualified staff on expeditions to locate all exhibits part to fully complete an exhibit or artefact. Deconstructing and analysing to gain more knowledge and information as well unlock more satisfying rewards. Continuing your journey through expeditions again searching for the pristine and higher quality rated exhibits.

Ability to cater to specific guest types through building a museum based on their preferences and needs. Using marketing to attract those specific guests and cater to their whims to maximise success, happiness and revenue. I really liked the 3 pop up challenges that cater to a specific segment of the game. They allowed you to learn more and be challenged with the objectives and goals.

While there are many positives and great features in Two Point Museum. There was some frustrations with the criminality, vandals, and heists. As players need to take care of these issues. Trying to set up plenty of security guards, patrol areas and setting up cameras to deter or catch criminals was a pain. It was a nice challenge to overcome.

Two Point Museum is a fun and highly enjoyable management simulation game. Consistently rewarding and joyful to play with its variety of exhibits and different themes. I would highly recommend purchasing Two Point Museum.
